I’m so grateful to have had the most beautiful Mother’s Blessing on the weekend facilitated by ❤️

What is a Mother’s Blessing?

During a Mother Blessing the mother is showered with love, words of affirmation and delicious food.

We hold space for her excitement and her fears.

We remind her that she is surrounded by supportive women who will show up, physically and emotionally during the postpartum period. ❤️

A mother blessing ceremony gathers the village of wise women around a pregnant woman and honours the magical and enormous transition that is underway.

Mother blessings are for first time, second-time….even seventh-time mums! Every new phase of motherhood brings new challenges, new opportunities for growth, new emotions 🥰

What drew me to hiring a doula for my second birth was that their main role is to nurture and support the mother and ensure she is looked after as this often isn’t the case in some traditional medical facilities. 

Lisa was someone I followed for sometime, and after meeting Lisa in person I knew she was the doula I wanted to support me throughout my birth and postpartum period ❤️

Lisa has shared below some benefits of hiring a doula 🤱🏽

🤱🏽 Continuity of care throughout birth, labour and postpartum.  Which includes unbiased evidence-based information outside of the system in which you may be birthing through. 
 
❤️ Support for both you and your partner.  Including emotional and physical support for both the birthing person and their partner/ support person during pregnancy, postpartum and particularly throughout labour. 
 
✨ Holding space through the entire journey.  Holding space throughout pregnancy, labour and postpartum means listening wholeheartedly with their ears, heart and their undivided attention. Being heard and validated is imperative in this time, and doulas can adapt to do so in the stages of this journey. 

🥗 Nurture and nourish you. 
Doulas have a deep understanding of the physical needs of birthing people, particularly during postpartum, and will aim to nurture and nourish you through this time. This may be through nutrient dense meals, wholesome snacks, nourishing teas, warming foot baths and transformative Closing of the Bones Ceremony. 

As I prepare for my second bub, I will be sharing my experience with Lisa.  Lisa offers birth preparation, birth and postpartum support, placenta encapsulation and closing the bones ceremonies.

The ancient wisdom of Ayurveda honours a mother’s fourth trimester, and emphasises the importance of nurturing the mother during this sacred time in her life 🌿

Dr Nambiar an expert in Ayurveda, has shared her top 5 tips below to help you throughout your postpartum period- 

😴 Rest- Don’t try to tackle the cooking, laundry, cleaning and work as soon as you get home. Birth is a huge somatic experience for both mum and bub, and it takes time to process the experience and grow into motherhood (even if it’s not your first time!).

🤱🏽Meaningful connection- The womb is a warm, soft and safe space where the soothing sounds of mums heartbeat and voice are always available. Support this connection after delivery with plenty of skin-on-skin contact, napping together and baby-wearing to calm both mum and bubs nervous system and strengthen your connection.

🥗 Eating for two- Mums nutritional needs increase after birth thanks to breastfeeding and post-partum recovery. Eating nutritous and easy to digest meals supports lactation, reduces constipation and ensures baby is content.

💤Normalise napping- “Nap when the baby sleeps” is great advice! Night feeds mean interrupted sleep, and while breasftfeeding encourages mums to relax, waking up multiple times overnight takes a toll. Prioritise and outsource as many chores as you can, and use baby naps as your snooze button.

👶🏽 Get Support- Set aside one or two periods in the day where someone else,  Like your partner or parent, can care for your baby, so you can take care of yourself. Take a mineral salt bath, do some light stretching, take in some morning sunlight or journal and process your experience. It’s ok to take time for yourself, and everyone benefits from this.

Let’s be honest, growing a little person is hard work!  Ayurveda focuses on the importance of pregnancy care for the mother before, during and after pregnancy 🤰🏽.

Looking after yourself during pregnancy will also help you during your postpartum period and help you with your recovery. 

Dr Nambiar shares her top 5 Ayurvedic tips below to ensure you look after yourself during pregnancy.

💧Stay Hydrated-‘Eat your water’ is an Ayurvedic approach to staying hydrated.

🥗Eat Well- Emphasise quality over quantity when eating for two. You are not what you eat, only what you can digest - this forms your baby’s first food.

🧘🏾‍♀️Embrace rest and relaxation- Growing a person is hard work! The body is more easily stressed in pregnancy, and baby  experiences mums emotions via  hormones.

☀️Support skin health- Mums skin is more sensitive in pregnancy, even before the belly begins stretching out. Avoid excess sunlight and extreme weather, use hats or umbrellas, try natural moisturisers like coconut and sesame oil, and minimise cosmetics - the pregnancy glow is all you need!

👶🏽Connect with your baby-  A new person is in process from the moment of conception, and it’s first world is it’s mother. 
Conscious parenting includes feeling the belly, speaking to baby,  engaging in breath work and meditation practices to connect with the second soul in a single body.

Introducing Dr Dhanya Nambiar ~

As Luna and Sun evolves my hope is to share with you information from holistic health experts on ways to help you during pregnancy, birth and postpartum 🤰🏽

When I first spoke to Dhanya a few months ago her knowledge in holistic health really blew me away. Dhanya has a PhD in Public Health and has also extensively studied Ayurveda.

Ayurveda has helped so many women throughout every season of their lives from fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum through to menopause. This is why Ayurveda is something I wanted to share ✨

How many hugs have you had today? 🤗

It’s probably not something you’ve thought about, but did you know that giving someone a hug can help you reduce your stress levels?
 
Some of the benefits of hugs-
 
💚 They boost your heart health
💚 Boost your immunity and cardiovascular health
💚 Make you happier
💚 Reduce pain
 
Having at least 12 hugs a day has been found to help with growth and 4 a day is the bare minimum a person needs for survival.
 
Hugging someone for a minimum of 20 seconds is shown to be the most beneficial length to help you de-stress ❤️

This is your little reminder to hug your loved ones, kids and even pets. I think we could all benefit from a few extra hugs this week.

Hi Everyone,

When I started the business 4 years ago I was pregnant, working full-time and I had a passion for sustainable fashion and changing the current problems in the fashion industry.

Like a lot of new mums who are small business owners I worked on the business whenever I could, mostly when my daughter was sleeping.  But what I realised was that I was prioritising the business over my health and wellbeing and this led to constant burnout and sickness over the last few years.

There’s a lot of pressure to successful career woman whilst also being a perfect mum.  But sometimes we need to not let the pressures from others (or society) tell us how to live our lives.    

In the coming months I will be closing Luna and Sun and doing something new.  Starting something new is a bit scary especially in your late 30’s but it’s never too late to make a change and follow your heart ♥️

I can’t wait to share more soon!

Thank you so much to each and every one of you for following along on this journey.  I really want to have a business that helps other women so I can’t wait to start this new journey with you soon.

As we are a small, family run business when we are away we don’t have anyone to wrap and process orders for us.

We will be overseas for 4 weeks and all orders made from 28 November to 1 January will be shipped out after 2 January.
