✨Finished Product✨
After a lot of trial and error (and my machine basically eating my last attempt after it temporarily broke) my first proper scratch sleeve bolero is done.
This really has been a long process, I drafted the pattern myself, made a few test ones out of cheaper fabric, made a lot of alterations to the pattern, then I got the fabric I wanted to use, followed by the great machine malfunction, and then even this particular bolero was such a time consuming process...
I think in total it took about 9+ hours.
The fabric is organic cotton on the outside and ice silk on the inside and for the mittens.
The part that makes it so time consuming is needing to be so slow and careful when seeing the fabric together in order to avoid bunching since the two different fabric has such different levels of stretch.
But as hard as it’s been I’m so proud of this in particular.
It’s something that will actually impact my sons wellbeing, childhood ezcema, especially in such a young child who can not stop them self from scratching, is such a hard thing to cope with.
These sleeves make it a little bit better.
(He is still able to hold and pick things up while wearing these sleeves)
I think for my next one I may make it a little bit bigger, but other than that I think the pattern is pretty much set.
