The story of Panda Carriers began in 2016 when the previous owner's son turned seven months, and they started planning a trip to the outback. Camping and trail walking, they knew that they needed more than a sling to cope with hot conditions, and uneven terrain. They looked for something which would be a natural upgrade from the soft-carrier, but couldn’t find light, safe and practical carrier fit
ting our needs. The research took them to Europe to a manufacturer with 30 years’ of experience making outdoor equipment. The Panda Carrier was everything they were looking for. They took it on a trip from Darwin to Perth, used it on hikes in 12 national parks and their son enjoyed every moment of 100 km he spent in the carrier even on a 40-degree day! They loved the way they could take Sebastian with them even on the roughest trails, and still had space to carry the things they needed for the whole day. Their son was excited by the scenery, calmed by the rhythm of us walking and connected with the natural elements of the places we visited. Everywhere they went, people asked us about their carrier. They soon realised that there are other families facing similar challenges - parents who want to get away and without worrying about difficulties of the terrain, be in contact with their bub, and enjoy freedom, effortless movement and play in a natural environment. When they got back from our travels, they contacted the manufacturer and began working on adapting the carrier to the needs of the Australian environment. Quite a few families tested our demo packs in the Australian bush, helping to refine the product and creating the Panda’s Carrier. As Sebastian grew too big for the carrier, Marie and Petr sold the business to a family who lived nearby, and we are the new owners of this fantastic brand. Our youngest is now seven months, and is already showing signs of loving being outside. On a recent family holiday to the Flinders Ranges he spent more than 14km being carried in the Panda Carrier, sleeping many hours comfortably under the fly net or shade while our older two children learned about rocks, searched for lizards, dodged spiders making impressive webs between trees, and spotted eagle nests and the spectacular native birds and wildlife. We look forward to sharing many more adventures with our followers, and to helping more families enjoy bushwalking and the great outdoors.
