Now that it is NFL playoff time a lot of our younger subscribers are wearing their favorite team ties. The problem is the length of tie results in a long narrow blade that hangs lower than the wide blade or you have to tuck it into your shirt. Both of which we want to avoid. So what is the best and easiest thing to do?...here are our top five suggestions.

#5. Grab the scissors. Now let's be real, if you are wearing your favorite team tie you are not going to hack it up with scissors. We only mention this because it may be a viable option for a wedding or a tie you may never wear again.

#4. Three piece suit or a vest. Both will work on covering up the length of the tie but if the point of the tie is to show off your tie then you don't want to hide it.

#3. Use a tie bar. Using a tie bar or tie clip you can fold the longer narrow blade back against itself and clip the entire thing. This will hid the extra material and it works quite well.

#2. Tie a wider knot. This will use up more of the wide blade of the tie and you will start with the narrow blade higher up above your waistline.
