LA Sourcing Trip

Spent last week in the LA Fashion District walking the streets looking for vintage ribbons, silks, leathers, and unexpected textures.

Part treasure hunt, part design process.

Can’t wait for these pieces to find their way onto a custom hat.

Broke in the hat I made at .masters with a stroll through Breckenridge today.

Along the way I stopped into the brand new shop of a fellow Hat Masters alum,

Beautiful shop, great hats, great people, and such a cool addition to Breckenridge!

It’s always fun and inspiring to see where the road takes people in this craft.

A 45-minute drive outside Tokyo led to one of the most meaningful moments of my trip.

I met one-on-one with a Sashiko master in her tiny studio. We didn’t share a language, but we shared tea, thread, and this centuries-old Japanese stitching tradition. Every now and then she would firmly say “No,” correcting my stitches, a simple reminder that she was the teacher and I was the student, far out of my element and loving every minute of it.

Moments like this remind me why I love learning wherever I go and how these stories will slowly find their way into each hat I create.
