Dahlia season has come to an end, the fun part is over, now the grafting begins to get everything cut down, out the ground and stored for the winter....

As if pushing a full wheel barrow 100 times isn't hard enough, i had an extra 25kgs per load 🤣🤣

I've said this before, but i just love having this little human in my garden with me, teaching him from small and having him so amped to help me ❤️ he has his own secateurs to help me cut them, and helped load the wheel barrow 💪 little champ!

My first ever flower workshop - i dont like the word "workshop" - it sounds so formal and i'm more of a take it as it comes person 😅 but never the less, i had so much fun, seeing everyone create their own masterpieces with my dahlias 😍

Thank you to each of you! All the chats and so much laughter. What a great morning!

Tomorrow i am sleeping in for sure 😅 it's tough getting up early so many mornings in a row, but still remains pure bliss going into my garden (even if i need a headlamp because it's still dark!)

The experience of growing dahlias is often associated with resilience and blooming even in difficult conditions.
This includes navigating challenges like failure, plant loss (damn moles!) and adverse weather. The dahlia itself can symbolize silent strength and tenacity.
Planting a garden is seen to represent hope for the future, and the process of growing dahlias teaches patience, akin to achieving long-term goals. Adversity in the garden is viewed as an opportunity for growth and adaptation.
Despite being described as challenging, the effort involved in growing these flowers is considered rewarding...

AI put the words in my mouth, through this really tough dry period my dahlias just keep trying and keep pushing through.
Some gorgeous Cosmos and Statice also starting to come through now.

People often ask me, "Nadia, how do you do it?" and then i act like it's easy and casually answer "aaaah it comes naturally"

I'm joking, no one asks me and that defs wouldn't be my answer 🤣🤣😅 especially not after weeks of hectic heat!

Dahlia season only has about 6 weeks left, and usually when i look back at photos i'm amazed that all of that came out of my garden, every single stem chosen and cut by me.

You know when you're in something and have orders to fullfill with a toddler who needs to get to school and back and fed while single parenting because hubby is away on a job plus i actually have a full time job - i don't just grow flowers 🤣 you often miss the beauty in the moment, which is why i am posting a few pics of my last few cuts, to show you the prettiness and for me to look back on super proud 💪

Also featuring beautiful photos supplied by Leafy for our bottle bouquets for Valentines (and any special event really, as long as we have about 72 hours notice)...
