The 2026 World Cup will be historic: 48 teams, 12 groups (Groups AβL), and the tournament hosted across the USA, Canada and Mexico. The draw took place today β hereβs how it works and what to watch out for π

Format highlights
48 teams divided into 12 groups of 4.
Each group gets one team from each βpotβ β based on rankings and seedings.
The three co-hosts have fixed group spots: United States national soccer team β Group D, Mexico national football team β Group A, Canada national soccer team β Group B.

Tournament timing
Group stage runs from 11 June β 27 June 2026.
Knockout rounds follow: Round of 32 β Round of 16 β Quarters β Semis β Final on 19 July 2026.
