You might look down at purchasing second hand / pre-loved clothing and think its a bit yucky or tacky but there is so much good in buying those second hand goodies to add to your wardrobe!
Fast fashion has taken the world by storm since the rise of online platforms like Shein & Temu. This means tons of poorly made clothing items enter thousands of homes on a weekly basis. When these clothes break or barely last one wash/use they are usually discarded in the trash which adds to our ever growing landfills, burdening our already fragile ecosystems.
When you purchase second hand clothing you play your part of lessening that burden.
When you buy second hand you give new life to an old garment, extending it's life span by at least another 2-5 years, provided there is no "heat expansion" around your midsection. You also could potentially find something totally unique or a limited edition item you have been search for since it was launched. One man's trash is another's treasure after all.
Be a Hippy! Save our resources; when shopping for secondhand clothing, youβre saving resources and doing the environment a solid favor. This is because the resources have already been used to make the piece of clothing. Instead of buying a new shirt or pair of pants that consumes resources to make it and distribute it to a store near you, buying used clothing doesnβt deplete any more resources. Because of this, wearing secondhand clothing has such a positive impact on the environment and is a great idea for anyone who wants to reduce their environmental impact.
And lastly it saves you money, as second hand items cost much less than new and we all love a good deal!
Support sustainable fashion, support buying second hand. Why? Because its lekker!
