Mafken Tv Zambia NEVERS MUMBA WITHDRAWS FROM PRESIDENTIAL RACE TO SUPPORT HICHILEMA

New Nation Party (NNP) President, Dr. Nevers Mumba has announced that he will not be contesting in the upcoming general election schedule for August 13, 2026. Instead, Dr. Mumba has pledged his full support to the United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate, President Hakainde Hichilema.

Addressing the media, Dr. Mumba clarified that although many of his supporters had urged him to join the presidential race, his decision to step back was informed by the current administration's track record.

He specifically pointed to President Hichilema’s performance in stabilizing the national economy as a primary reason for his endorsement.

Dr. Mumba expressed his firm confidence in President Hichilema’s governance and vision for Zambia.

The move marks a significant shift in the political landscape as the country prepares for the polls, with Dr. Mumba choosing to prioritize a unified front behind the incumbent.
