- *Expectations vs Reality*: When Jesus began His ministry, most Jews expected a political Messiah — a conquering prince from the tribe of Judah who would overthrow Rome. They weren’t looking for a Saviour from sin.

- *Lost Devotion*: True spiritual devotion had been replaced by tradition and ceremony. Pride and worldly hearts shaped how they interpreted prophecy, so they missed Isaiah’s picture of a suffering Saviour.

- *Rejected Warnings*: John the Baptist called them to repentance and pointed to Jesus as the “Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world,” but they wouldn’t listen.

- *Missed Opportunity*: If Israel’s leaders had accepted Christ’s transforming grace, He would have made them His ambassadors. Instead, pride kept them from receiving the “lowly Teacher from Nazareth.”

- *Early Ministry*: Jesus announced Himself as Messiah when He cleansed the temple in Jerusalem. Later, fear of the people kept the Sanhedrin from killing Him, so He left Judea for Galilee. He ministered there for months before giving the Sermon on the Mount
