Garry Nkombo, former UPND Member of Parliament for Mazabuka Central, has announced he will re-contest the seat as an independent candidate after claiming he has been sidelined by his party.

Speaking emotionally to constituents, Nkombo said he feels "used and thrown to the dumpsite," adding that he has been repeatedly insulted over issues he knows nothing about. While stating he still carries UPND "deep in his heart," he expressed unhappiness with how he has been treated. He warned that his silence should not be mistaken for weakness.

Residents, however, called on him to run again, citing the selfless work he did as their MP.
