The last day of school always feels a little strange. The classroom gets louder, the routines disappear, desks get cleaned out, and somehow the room that held so much life all year suddenly feels quiet.
As teachers, we spend months pouring ourselves into kids who may never fully realize how much we carried for them behind the scenes. The lessons, the encouragement, the hard conversations, the second chances, the mornings we showed up exhausted anyway. And then one day… it’s over.
This year wasn’t perfect. No school year ever is. There were stressful days, moments of doubt, and plenty of times I wondered if I was doing enough, but there were also breakthroughs, laughter, growth, and moments that reminded me exactly why this work matters.
To the students who walked into my classroom this year, thank you for trusting me. Teaching has never just been about academics for me. It’s about helping kids feel seen, capable, and worthy of taking up space in this world.
As this school year closes, I’m grateful. Tired, but grateful.
To every educator making it to the finish line, what you do matters more than most people will ever fully understand.
Now excuse me while I emotionally recover and organize absolutely nothing I packed away. Bring on summer! ☀️
