There is a lot of pressure
on parents today
to keep babies constantly engaged.
The right toys.
The right activities.
The right amount of stimulation
at every stage.
But constant entertainment
is not actually what developing brains need.
Babies and young children
need unstructured time too.
Moments with no agenda,
no toy being placed in front of them,
no screen filling the silence.
When a child is left
to their own devices for a little while,
something valuable happens.
They begin to explore independently.
They use what is around them.
They create their own version of play.
That is where imagination is born.
That is where creativity begins to grow.
You do not need to orchestrate
every moment of their day.
Step back sometimes.
Let the quiet do its work.
who feels the pressure
to always be doing more.
