We were honored to have our students invited to the IStructE End of Year Dinner at the Dusit Thani, where their hard work throughout the year truly came full circle.

We are proud to announce that Team Tensile(Aaron Thomas Kuruvilla , Akil George Oommen .4khil._ , Chris John .x_ , A***n Arun , Abriram Suresh )from Manipal Academy of Higher Education secured 1st Place in the IStructE YMG .ymg_uae Sky Design Challenge 2025.

In addition to this success, our students were recognized for their outstanding performance at the 15th Annual Wooden Bridge Competition held at AUD earlier this year. Our teams achieved:

1st (Jaskaran Singh .jassi , Ayaan Patel .nn_ , Affan Ahmed , Mujtabaa Hussain .tabaa_05 ) and 2nd (Aaron Thomas Kuruvilla , Akhil George Oommen .4khil._ , Chris John .x_ , Abubakar Usman )Place in the Bridge Load Efficiency Category.

The Winner(Sreelakshmi Palakka Valappil) – Individual Forecast award.

We are incredibly proud of the teamwork, innovation, and dedication that drove these achievements.

Our sincere thanks to IStructE for providing these invaluable platforms for our students to showcase their skills and for their continued support of the next generation of engineers.

Our team Tensile proudly represented us at the IStructE YMG Design Challenge 2025, held on 21 November 2025 at the Egis Headquarters in Dubai.

Tasked with designing a lightweight 4-storey vertical city—featuring apartments, green gardens, retail spaces, and community hubs—on top of an existing G+5 residential building in the UAE, our students delivered an innovative solution without altering the original structure.

This forward-thinking concept was shaped by our enthusiastic talents: Aaron Thomas Kuruvilla , Akhil George Oommen .4khil._ , and Chris John .x_ from Civil Engineering, together with Arina Arun and Abhiram Suresh from Architecture. We now eagerly await the final results at the IStructE End of Year Celebration on 11th December.

The Department of Civil Engineering, in collaboration with the IStructE UAE Young Members Group, hosted an inspiring session introducing students to the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) — its membership benefits, career pathways, and global network. 🌍

The session also featured a hands-on MOLA workshop, where students brought structural concepts to life through creative model building. 🏗️

A special thank you to Ms. Huda Sharif , Ms. Jainey Erum , Mr. Basil Ismail .ismail_ , and Mr. Akhil Surendran for an insightful and motivating session.

Mr. Shammas (BIM Manager, Unit Engineering) introduced the concept of BIM and Shared BIM model of Silicon central including façade, structural design and analysis model, MEP design, automatic clash coordination using Navisworks, project visualization using Lumion and Twinmotion, planning and scheduling using integration with Primavera and Synchro software (4th Dimension = time) through Sharjah expansion project, building sustainability using IESv6, and Emerging technology like – Lidar scanning of existing building, 3D printing, AR/VR/XR, Digital Twin and IOT, AI & ML – program revit to customize and generate AI models in revit – boston robotics dog, and modular construction.
Mr. Sai Krishna RV(CEO, BIMElite) talked about his career profile over last 30 years. What drove him to start BIMelite and his passion for construction industry.
