He knew before the tournament started.

The leg was broken. Two stress fractures. Two torn ligaments. Doctors had already told him the surgery couldn’t wait much longer.

He played anyway.

91 holes over five days. Wincing after drives. Limping between fairways. In front of every camera in golf, visibly falling apart — and still attacking every single shot like his body wasn’t failing him in real time.

On the 72nd hole, needing a birdie to force a playoff, he made it.

Then came back the next day and played 18 more.

And won.

The moment it was over he booked the surgery. He’d known the cost the entire time. He just didn’t care enough about it to stop.

That’s not toughness. That’s a send. The kind where you look at everything that could go wrong, everything that probably will go wrong and you lace up anyway.
