With 20+ years of teaching experience, we welcome all ages & abilities, building confidence & skills in a supportive space. ThreadWerk is a sewing and fabric studio focusing on teaching the craft of home sewing. Spreading the joy of sewing and crafting at my courses and workshops, which are for all ages and abilities, is only one aim of ThreadWerk. At ThreadWerk, I also source beautiful sustainabl

e dressmaking fabrics and build a base collection of eco-friendly fibres for the conscious sewist. Another aim of ThreadWerk is to show that home sewing is more than a craft. With your creativity, you can sew ‘high street’ garments to stand out in the crowd with your home-sewn wardrobe. Sewing also contributes to sustainability, the fight against fast fashion and the overall well-being to wear clothes that perfectly fit only the wearer’s body. I love giving the gift of sewing by teaching others new skills and building confidence. Sewing is not what it use to be, and it can be so rewarding to create something unique and individual to your style. I hope I can pass on my passion for sewing through ThreadWerk and encourage more people in Dubai to pick up a needle and thread.

It's amazing what can happen in just a few classes. From learning your very first chain stitch to finishing a headband, coaster, or your first amigurumi project, every maker starts exactly the same way—with a single loop on a hook.⁠

Before discovering sewing, Polina worked in the legal profession until a second-hand Singer sewing machine changed everything ✂️ What started as a creative outlet during Covid quickly turned into a passion for garment making, beautiful fabrics, and handmade clothing that fits perfectly and lasts for years.⁠

After a busy few weeks of Summer Camps, our team is taking a well-earned break.⁠

🧵 The studio will be closed from 26 July to 8 August.⁠
⁠
During this time, we'll also be taking a short break from social media, emails, and WhatsApp, so if you get in touch, we'll reply as soon as we're back.⁠

The good news? You can still browse our class calendar and book your favourite classes as usual through our website while we're away.⁠
⁠
We'll be back from 9 August, refreshed and ready for another three weeks of Summer Camps, followed by our regular classes in September.⁠

In fact, I didn't make a single new outfit for this trip.⁠
⁠
For our hikes, I've been living in my Avery Leggings by , my Kingsley Top by , and one of the zippered hoodies by I made around two years ago. They may not be my newest makes, but they've been some of my most worn and that's exactly the point.⁠
⁠
One of the things I love most about sewing is that it changes how you think about clothing. Instead of making something to wear once and forget, you create pieces that become part of your everyday life. They travel with you, climb mountains with you, and become favourites because of the memories you've made in them.⁠
⁠
There can be a lot of pressure, even in the sewing world, to make something new for every holiday or special occasion. But to me, slow fashion isn't about constantly making more. It's about making clothes you'll genuinely love, wear again and again, and keep reaching for years later.⁠
⁠
(And yes... my handmade rain jacket came along too. It stayed tucked away in my backpack all week because we had incredible weather but I was very happy to know it was there just in case. ☀️🌦️)⁠
