Wasat was never created as something to simply look at. Across ten days, it asked to be experienced through process, through craft, through time spent together. The value lived in the making, in the exchanges, in the accumulation of small gestures rather than finished results. Now that the doors have closed, what remains is a memory of proximity, generosity and a community that briefly formed in the center of Sikka art and design festival.

Meet Ria 🛠️

At the Repair Collective, furniture restoration and surfaces are approached as acts of revival. Ria R. Hiremath is a visual artist whose practice is grounded in making as a way of thinking. Through live demonstration and shared techniques, visitors are there to observe and learn simple repairing methods, framing resotrations as both sustainable practice and a design language.

Meet Sam 🤙

Sam is a multidisciplinary maker working across textiles, wood, copper, beads and handpoke tattooing. In her pattern library, collaborators and visitors are invited to co-create prints that sit between craft, design and contemporary art; testing process, repetition and form

Meet Safwan 🔅

At Alice Ganesan’s dye garden, Safwan and Swathini collectively step into colour not as content, but as a natural process. Discarded plants and flowers are given time, heat and patience; becoming unpredictable and and honest pigments.

Meet Emann 🪡

Grounded in over 17 years of tailoring discipline, Emann treats garments as living objects, shaped by precision, fit, and quiet intelligence of the body. Pattern making, hand finishing and alteration form the core of a practice built on durability, comfort and care.

Meet Rajeshwari🔅

Rooted in the vernacular traditions of Andhra Pradesh, where muggulu rangoli marks the start of every day, Rajeshwari’s practice unfolds through precise hand movements and inherited pattern logic. A daily ritual of care, symmetry and positive energy.

Meet Nalendran and commission him for a bespoke hand-lettered sign!
🦚
Twelve years of Biennale signage, decades of political lettering, two scripts learned against plaster and rain.

Nalendran turned Kochi’s streets into a typography school and is currently in Dubai doing the same, one block at a time.

Step into Manual, a neo-archival space where time slows down and hands remember what the market declared dead. 🔴

We’re exploring living practices that exist in the “missing middle” between traditional craft and contemporary culture. Vinyl, cassettes, amplifiers; four decades of care, maintenance, and attention, all still alive.
This isn’t nostalgia. This is transmission. Handle the records, hear the machines, meet the practitioners, and experience sound as object, ritual, and memory.

Analog isn’t slow. It’s intentional.

Manual is presented by .in

🤝⚡️🍻
We just finished moving in, and standing here feels wild, like we’ve been building this place for fifteen years without knowing it. Every layer of ink, every stupidly late night, every moment of doubt and stubborn persistence is somehow sitting in the walls, staring back at us. “Finally!”
