Climate change and natural disasters are a reality that everyone lived in 2022. Fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, marine and wildlife extinction.
This situation is pressing and beyond being a trendy topic ; it is becoming our reality.
Couture, in its essence, is the most sustainable form of the apparel making industry with the least carbon foot print since handcrafting as well as the use of natural luxury yarns are in the core of its know how.
At Maison Yeya, we wanted to take a different look at alleviating the environmental crisis by showing how Couture can help using materials that can be otherwise a burden on the environment, turning it into a beautiful wearable work of art.
This is how we want to say goodbye to 2022 and welcome 2023 with a hope and an intention to change the way we live.

Special thanks to our project partners Hend and Mariam the founders of Reform studios that have created these fabrics and made this project happen.
They upcycle foiled plastic packaging waste into beautiful creations.
