The British Invasion of the 1960s was a full on cultural phenomenon, spearheaded by the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who.
The British Invasion had its own fashion aesthetic too, youth driven, anti-establishment, Mod and Swinging London. Styles which have influenced fashion ever since. Here at A Star Is Worn, we’ve always loved our mod fashion finds and our vintage British vinyl, and with new additions like the stunning Beatles themed mini dress (pictured) joining the fashion fray, we decided it was worth celebrating. One of the great joys of vending vintage fashion, is the fantastic vintage paraphernalia you discover in the process.
Case in point, this super funky, vintage 1970s, framed poster art, celebrating the amazing New York based visual and performance artist, Pat Oleszko. This amazing artist partied at Studio 54 and Mudd Club, whilst performing at institutions like MOMA and The Whitney Museum of American Art. Her artistic works have been featured in publications from Pl***oy and Esquire to Ms. Magazine, and the poster art here features some of her signature ‘wearable inflatable sculpture’.

I have totally fallen in love with Houndstooth for winter!

We’re not sure where this magnificent vintage, embroidered satin cape originated, but it’s now jetting off to New York.

It’s so gratifying to know that stunning vintage fashion pieces like this one, originally created in the 1940s, are still loved and treasured in 2026. A great reminder that, things of quality have no fear of time!
