"It takes a village"

First birthdays are such an incredible milestone, for SO many reasons.

๐ŸŽ‰ No doubt it's a beautiful celebration for the baby who is quickly becoming a little boy.

๐ŸŽ‰ Let's hear it for the parents who have had their world spun upside down in the most wonderful way.

๐ŸŽ‰ And special mention for the older ones who have had to learn to share mum's attention, and adjust to their new role as big brother or sister.

๐ŸŽ‰ Let's not forget the amazing village who helped along the way. The grandparents, friends, aunties and educators, who all play such a special role.

Here's to many more years of treasured memories and unforgettable moments being created together.

Cheers to you baby boy! ๐Ÿผ *Clinks milky bottles*

Happy birthday to my dreamy blue eyed boy.

You've already created so much happiness in our lives and we adore you so much.

"No matter how much I say I love you. I will always love you more than that".

We are so grateful and extremely mindful of how lucky we are to be able to celebrate safely today.

Let the birthday week celebrations begin!

It's no secret that babies (and new parents) of the 2020's have faced unprecedented uncertainty and missed out on so many things we take for granted.

Baby shower celebrations were cancelled.

Babies didn't have access to the same social interactions of other bubs, not to mention the simple facial communication that is so vital for development ๐Ÿ˜ท

They missed out on mother's groups and a lot of face to face support.

Treasured time with family and friends was incredibly limited due to lockdown and isolations.

So here's to a very special week of celebrations, and treasuring all of the good times over the last 12 months. You have literally been our shining light โœจ

How did life change so quickly?

Before long, your delicate little newborn bundle will be sitting up on their own, feeling so proud of themselves.

Blink and they'll be standing up, climbing on furniture without your help.

Then suddenly they'll stop wanting to be cradled to sleep. And before long, they'll be taking themselves to the toilet and nappies will be gone.

There's no denying the early years can be chaotic. And hard. And a bit blurry. But they are equally wonderful and full of love and the time passes far too quickly.

All too soon, these years will become a bunch of treasured memories. And one day, you will look back, craving to have just one of these moments back again.

We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, so I wanted to share something a little different to the usual romantic spam. Swipe to read ยป

I'm a little late to the *love language party* and I'm only starting to learn more about this myself, but it occurred to me that kids would surely have their own special love language, just like adults.

By filling a child's love cup full of meaningful moments that are most in tune with their unique language, you're essentially tapping into their little soul, creating an almost unbreakable connection.

Can you identify which one relates most to the little loves in your life?

I'm not sure if a child's love language becomes more defined with age, but I feel like my 3 year old is at a love buffet, loading a bit of everything on his plate ๐Ÿ˜‚ it might also differ from parent to parent. With me, Lou loves lounge cuddles and little surprises. With Jay though, he really values spending time playing games and wrestling on the grass.

I read a great article from which explains the 5 love languages from a child's perspective. In a nutshell:

๐ŸคŽ Touch - chase me, cuddle me, let me play with your hair
๐ŸคŽ Gifts - receiving presents or surprises, or small gestures
๐ŸคŽ Quality time - come here, look at this!
๐ŸคŽ Words of praise or affirmation - talk to me, tell me I did a great job
๐ŸคŽ Acts of service - can you do this for me?

If you're interested in discovering your child's love language, you can do a quick quiz online, which I've linked in my bio.

The quiz appears to be designed more for children aged 9-12 years. For parents of younger children who are still curious, you can simply choose the 9-12 year age range and just go through the different questions.

The quiz is great for adults too so if you're interested in discovering your own love language, click the link.

It's got to be the best part of parenting a pre schooler I reckon ๐Ÿ˜‚

When they are not challenging every ounce of our existence, they manage to flip the mood instantly with the hilarious, random things they come up with.

This one's a true story from bedtime the other night. I've started writing them all down in my boy's time capsule so I can treasure these moments forever.

What's the best comment you've heard from a toddler or preschooler?

The beginning of the end.

How are you almost one?!

Motherhood is an emotional game of tug-a-war. Can you ever win the match?
On one hand, you want your babies to grow up, excited to see the person they become. On the other hand, you wish they could stay little for just a bit longer.

As we approach Maxi boy's first birthday, I've realised I'm witnessing a lot of last "firsts".

So here's to one more hug, one more time on the slide, one more bike ride, one more bedtime story. One more means I won't have to face the 'last'. Right? ๐Ÿฅน

Working mum, welcome back ๐Ÿ‘‹

Tomorrow marks the end of maternity leave and my first day back at work.

Just another bittersweet moment to navigate in motherhood.

The upside? Drinking a hot coffee peacefully, in it's entirety ๐Ÿ™Œ
I get to fire up my grown up brain and learn to string whole sentences together again without slurring or losing my train of thought (which should be interesting given I spend most of the day speaking on the phone)
And chatting about something other than snot, teething and which episode of Bluey I love the most.

But then I imagine my boys at daycare and all the fun activities they're doing without me. Knowing the educators will most likely watch Max take his first steps, or babbling his first words to them is actually heartbreaking.

It's a huge adjustment to return to work after babies. You're a completely different person from when you left, but often the expectation is that you just hit the ground running and pick up where you left.

I'm so grateful to have had the time with both my boys, and I am ready for this next chapter. Just have to take it one step at a time and be kind to myself.

I know it can be hard

I know it can be hard, getting up every day and have these little people rely on you. I know itโ€™s hard to feel like sometimes your world is so small.

I want to remind you. You are the world.
You are the world that those little ones revolve around. You are their home, their comfort.

You are everything to them and I hope even on your hard days you know how special you are. Especially to your little people.
