Dear lovely people,
Due to some months of a perfect storm of some health issues in my household, increasing caring commitments with my Grandad, and some house changes which are impacting the sewing room, I'm making the call to pause KnitSewThrive until the end of this year.

This means I will not be able to accept any new jobs.

For those who have clothing with me now, I thank you immensely for your patience with my delays in sewing and with replying to your messages. I'll be making contact to either arrange a pick up time for your finished items, or to link you with my wonderful alterations colleagues in Bega or Tura to have them completed by someone else.

I sincerely look forward to getting back to the sewing room for others when life calms down a bit!

In the meantime, I can wholeheartedly recommend my tailoring/seamstress colleagues for your alterations needs:

Esther Robinson, Ravenswood St Bega. Ph. 0427 289 585.

Rae Griffiths, Tura. Ph. 0437304056

Keep on repairing, creating, and altering!

Celebrating World Environment Day here at KnitSewThrive by keeping Bega Valley clothing out of landfill and looking good for longer!

Extending the life of your clothing by just a few more wears with a timely mend or alteration makes a huge difference to a huge waste problem. Big thanks, every wonderful human who has brought clothing over for a bit of TLC 💚

"The fashion industry is one of the highest polluting industries. It is responsible for an estimated 10% of global CO2 emissions.

Australians are the world's second largest consumers of textiles BUT:

- The average person only wears 40% of their clothes

- Of the clothes that go to charity, it is estimated that only 15% are resold within Australia

- The rest are sent to landfill or overseas to developing nations

- In landfill, decomposing materials can take up to hundreds of years to break down whilst releasing methane and some release microplastics into the soil and eventually into our water streams."

Here at KnitSewThrive, we believe that our world should never have piles of unsold clothing making disgusting fast fashion clothing dumps of over consumption in our deserts.

If you believe this too, huge thanks. Let's keep clothing lasting for longer by buying longer lasting materials, buying less, and looking after what we have. I'm always here to help you do that, or teach you how to do it yourself.

Warm hat weather! I made this one for Mum in 2009. It's lasted pretty well, but needed a new band that wasn't stretched with holes! Wool from stash, a satisfying red.

Instead of putting your old clothes in the bin, do try out making a rag rug. All you have to do is cut the old clothes into strips, and then you can knot them into a rug base. Bega Vinnies recently had a few metres of rug base in their craft section for very little, otherwise, check out our Bega sewing shop Country Crafts and Cottons. Less to landfill, and more use from the material! 🌿🥰

Happy Thursday all! Very quiet on the posting front, but the sewing front and life/ work have been busy as always.
Here's a happy mend, one granny trolley bag that had lost its lining and ended up with a few rips. Now ready to roll, with new lining (a second hand curtain) and patch support.
Thanks for the ongoing fun repairs! These spark much joy.

$2 for any piece of women's clothing at Salvos in Bega! If they need a tweak to fit you perfectly, then bring them to me and we'll sort your wardrobe.
Reducing clothing to landfill, keeping money in wallets by buying second hand, and wearing something tailored for you, can't beat that combination.
