We believe that Fair Trade can change the world. This business is designed to be both an advocate for Fair Trade and to showcase products that are doing it well. Our label 'Awear..social re-design' and all the designers we support follow the 'World Fair Trade Organisations' 10 principles of Fair Trade:

1. Creating Opportunities for Economically Disadvantaged Producers
2. Transparency and Accountab

ility
3. Fair Trading Practices
4. Payment of a Fair Price
5. Ensuring no Child Labor and Forced Labor
6. Commitment to Non Discrimination, Gender Equity and Freedom of Association
7. Ensuring Good Working Conditions
8. Providing Capacity Building
9. Promoting Fair Trade
10. Respect for the Environment

We are a member of 'Fair Trade Australia and New Zealand'. We are actively involved with the 'Fair Trade NSW Networking Group' and facilitate the 'Fair Trade Newcastle/Hunter/Lake Macquarie' network group. We have been in business now for over 10 years and its been an amazing journey. We started with one rack of cloths and a few Up-cycled handbags. Now we have our label and we are wholesaling to boutiques across Australia. Due to demand, this year we are launching an online store to show case a few items, this is so customers who can't get to our markets or boutiques can now have the opportunity to purchase from our range too. Why we support Starfish Project: Mae's story is one of resilience and transformation. Denied education as a child, Mae lacked marketable skills and remained trapped in a cycle of exploitative work. But when she met our staff, everything began to change. Starfish Project offered her dignified work making jewelry. This opportunity led to the realization of a lifelong dream -- to learn. Mae now studies English and computers, creates jewelry prototypes, and even trains new artisans.

Recently I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Mardi from ReNewy Living . Here I explain what Fair Trade is, why its struggeling against greenwashing and why I am so passionate about this revolutionary business model.

P.S. If you're interested in joining the Fair Trade movement in Australia, visit https://fta.org.au/. The Fair Trade Association is a non-profit membership organization made up of Australian businesses and individuals who share the vision of putting people and the planet above profit. It’s the only organization in Australia that offers a peer-reviewed endorsement program, providing evidence that businesses meet the 10 Fair Trade principles. This endorsement is recognized by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). The Fair Trade Association plays a crucial role as the sole advocacy group supporting small Fair Trade businesses in Australia.

Looking forward to seeing you!

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has scheduled a visit during the summer holidays. Your support is crucial in keeping the dream alive—a space where consumers can find eco-focused products, all while providing employment opportunities to marginalized artisan producers.

As for me, I’m taking a well-deserved break and will be away until January 26th.

Looking forward to seeing you all when I return!

Love,
Yvie xo
