Stitch Over The Ditch

Stitch Over The Ditch Just a girl living a crafty life. Like to have things a little different to the crowd? I do which is what originally led me to make a bag for myself.

This flowed on to bags for family, friends and work colleagues and has landed me here with a FaceBook page and a crazy idea to put myself out there. Check out the photo pages to see if there's something that catches your eye, ask questions - I would love to see everyone out there with a local handcrafted item :)

Well, there hasn’t been any bag making happening for a while but I have made quite a few quilt tops recently. And I’ve quilted a few too… more of that side of it coming up this weekend. 😉
For now, here are some of the recent quilt top finishes.

Next bag up is a gorgeous tote. It will be another first time making a pattern which make the process even more fun 🙂

I am lucky to work for a firm that’s generous and encourages community spirit in the staff through various organisations we support. Today we got to back Safe Start boxes for the amazing team from Baby Give Back. These boxes contain all the absolute essentials a new mum needs in the first weeks of having a new baby. The boxes will go to maternity facilities ready to be given to new mums/families who are doing it tough. I made a stack of burp cloths so 75 boxes got one of these added. Another reason I love being able to sew - to help others. 🥰

A friend and I decided to have a sew-a-long over the Easter long weekend to make a new bag pattern. We chose this amazing pattern. As we live in different states it was an online thing but we both had a lot of fun and each produced a great bag. This one is now with its new owner. Jenny, I hope you love it 😘
Bag pattern is the Companion Crossbody bag by Kaur Threads.
Leather is beautiful kangaroo leather from Packer Leather.

This week saw the finish of a very long overdue wedding gift for some friends.
The pattern of this quilt is called the double wedding ring and I chose it because it is traditionally what would have been given as a wedding gift. Lots of firsts in this quilt. I love it but was also happy to see it in the hands of the new owners 😆

There have been a few other items finished these past months… lots of them are for me. Testing new patterns and making things to replace worn out items of my own.
Bruce even got a new sling made for his dog bed which he was very happy about 🙂

Another bag finished and delivered. I am starting to sew a little more (and enjoying it) after not really touching the machines for a couple of years (aside from the odd small project here and there).
This is a baby bag for another of my work colleagues 🙂

I had fun the last couple of weekends participating in a series of classes over zoom learning to make this beautiful bag.
It won’t come with a low price tag, but if anyone is interested in purchasing one of these, (or enquiring about it 😉) please shoot me a message.

Cubbies make beautiful gifts for both young and old. Although they are most popular for newborn gifts with the birth announcement on them, don’t forget you can put other things on them too 🙂
There are lots of styles available and they are $50 each (plus any postage).

Well as seems to be the norm for me, it’s been a long time between posts. I haven’t been doing a lot of crafting but have finished the odd piece. This laptop bag was a beauty.
