An offcut from a chenille bedspread and a vintage sewing pattern = a new dressing gown for my 5yo granddaughter. This chenille is so soft and cuddly and perfect for a little girl who is obsessed with fabric. Margaux had well and truly outgrown her other dressing gown that was made years ago by my Mum for Margaux’s older sister.
It’s been a while since I sewed a garment from start to finish in one sitting and I really enjoyed the process.
The pattern was Size 5 and I made it with no alterations. The finished garment is a bit big and will probably see her through several winters. Yay!!
The simple pleasures of life…. sewing for a loved one, reusing fabric that’s much too good for the bin, and reliving habits taught to me by my mum who demonstrated the true value of a great upcycle!
