The ultimate uniform.👗The true magic of the “Made in Italy” stamp is the story beneath the surface. For these iconic velvet shoes, the story began in rural Friuli, where resourcefulness became an art form. Local women hand-stitched these “Sunday shoes” for their families using recycled burlap sacks for padding and old bicycle tires for the non-slip, waterproof soles.

From the fields, they traveled to Venice. It was the gondoliers who first made them a staple, realizing the rubber soles allowed them to grip the wet wood of the boats without scratching the paint. Soon, the Venetian nobility adopted them to glide, silent and sophisticated, through their grand palazzos.
