FREE 'Wearable Weaves' workshop!

Celebrate the opening of the revitalised Mission Beach – and enjoy a free Wearable Weaves workshop!

Wearable Weaves is a fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll explore miniature weaving to design and create your own wearable art using colourful threads, recycled fibres, and found materials.

Led by Claudia - an artist with over 25 years of experience in community art - you’ll be guided through simple miniature weaving techniques in a welcoming, down-to-earth space. Her workshops focus on creativity, connection, and rethinking how we use everyday materials.

No experience needed. Just come along, try something new, and enjoy the process of making.

All materials are provided, and you’ll head home with a unique piece of wearable art.

**Please note: attendees must be over the age of 12.

It’s been two creative weeks of colour, texture, and imagination and our reef is complete.
Folding, wrapping, threading, twisting and slowly watching a reef take shape has been so much fun.
I designed and delivered the "Build a Reef" for the Queensland Museum school holiday program within the "Stories from the Sea" program, where children and families came together to build a vibrant underwater world filled with coral, sea creatures, and swaying jellyfish, each piece made with care and imagination.
A few reclaimed and recyclable materials found their way in too, keeping the focus on creativity, connection, and care for the ocean.
There’s something special about watching a community artwork grow, piece by piece, layer by layer, built from curiosity and collaboration. 💙
Big thanks to the Queensland Museum Kurilpa team for the invitation to create and play together.

From knee-deep in skips + scrapyards, scavenging for materials to create theatre sets to now creating garments, installations + set design where waste is my palette.
