History has been made as Queensland ends the longest drought in Australian interstate sporting history. After 87 years, Queensland has claimed the King’s Cup (Interstate Men’s 8+), defeating Victoria by a razor-thin 0.22 seconds—what a finish!

Congratulations to the crew on an incredible achievement.

And to all the other Queenslanders who raced hard over the past week at Lake Barrington in Tasmania—outstanding effort, well done!

There has been much media coverage about Rockhampton as the Olympic rowing venue.

The alternative proposal by the Moreton Bay City Council clearly ticks all the boxes for both an Olympic rowing venue and the long term interests of rowing in Queensland.

This is an incredible opportunity to deliver an outstanding Olympic rowing venue that will be enjoyed for many generations to come. A true legacy that the Queensland (and Australian) sporting community, and more broadly, all Queenslanders will feel proud to be a part of.

We hope the right decision is made to enable the best possible Olympic rowing event in Queensland, 2032.
