Today I attended my first handmade huddle! The premise is to bring 5 similar items you’ve made and swap with other makers and come home with 5 individual items. In true form I came with mostly edible items 😋. Can’t wait to dig into the butters and lamington. It was lovely to meet .and.sweet and thank you to the organisers of - I look forward to the next one x

Playing with palettes lately. A little bit in love with Matisse Australian Sky Blue right now.
I’ve never had a favourite colour. It’s the combinations I obsess over, the way two shades sitting next to each other can shift a mood.. Apparently blue suits me though. People have been telling me that for years.
But the colours I keep returning to belong to Western Australia. It’s been over a decade since my partner and I travelled there, but I can still picture it clearly. Dusty pink and blue skies too big to hold. Layers of red earth. The pale, dusty greens of the bush and crystal blues of swimming holes and beaches. Sunsets that change everything it touches. I loved stopping and looking around, blocking the colours on a canvas in my mind. Some landscapes never really leave you.

This weekend I tried my hand at copperfoil which I found much easier than leadlighting. It’s more forgiving in the glass...

This weekend I tried my hand at copperfoil which I found much easier than leadlighting. It’s more forgiving in the glass cutting but a bit more tedious with the foiling. My next step is to figure out how to design my own patterns for my ultimate project that will be replacing the glass in our front door. In the meantime I’ll keep practicing with patterns from Etsy. What do you think I should make next?

I’m so incredibly proud of my pal for creating such a wonderful book! Making Happy Things has been a true labour of love, and it feels like Sue-Ching has bottled up her vibrant self and poured it into these pages. Think bright colours, clever ideas, beautiful design and that unmistakable Sue magic! ✨ We go way back (over 20 years) to our days at Riot Art and Craft, surrounded by paint splattered floors that did nothing to help our hangovers! I’ve always been inspired by her out of the box thinking and it’s been a joy to watch her career and artistry grow, stretch and blossom into something uniquely hers. I can’t wait to make my first happy thing, and more excited to celebrate at her launch tonight! Congratulations! And thank you for all your support with my humble little midge and Dot project… cheers to all the happy things your book will spark!!
