Spike the Bubble Beach House is simple, elegant and it’s located in a quiet suburb, full of frangipanis, mango trees and palm trees. Better still—the house is one of the closest in Broome to the beach. It’s about a ten-minute walk through the sand dunes. nspired. The Beach House is the first part of our concept. Spike the Bubble was started by an avid reader and collector of vinyl, Bruce McDowall. Back in the day, Bruce was an A-grade footy player, a surfer, a model, a geographer, and a public servant who spent plenty of time on the clock writing his magnum opus: a 2000 plus page catalogue of first edition books. In 2015, Bru passed away, gifting a forty-foot shipping container full of books and vinyl to the family. We considered doing a Fahrenheit 451 and burning the lot, then changed our minds.
