You did it. You crossed the line. You are an Ironman. 🎉
Now it’s time to look after the body that got you there. No talk of next year just yet, this part matters first.
Your body has just taken on 226km and it’s running on empty, so what you do in the next 24–48 hours makes a huge difference to how you recover.
Start with electrolytes straight away. You’ve lost a serious amount of sodium and fluids out there, especially on that run. Getting those levels back up is key.
Next, think carbs and protein. A recovery shake or even a quick gel to bridge the gap before a proper meal will help kickstart muscle repair. Don’t skip it, your body needs it.
Over the next day or two: keep sipping, keep eating, and take every chance you can to get off your feet and let your body reset.
If you need help with recovery, we’ve got everything in store to get you feeling human again.
Huge congratulations to every athlete who raced this weekend. Cairns, you absolutely delivered. 💪
