For all my crowing about how much I love the winter weather, it sure knows how to knock me around...

Coming off the back of 6+ weeks of upheaval in my work requiring a lot of overtime, brain-strain and generally treating my body more like a crack-den than a temple - the common winter cold has done me in.

The bad news of course is that I am a terrible patient (one of the few are and where I qualify as a ‘real’ man is when it comes to being sick).

The good news is that I have a week of r’n’r ahead of me that I can spend working my way through all the content I have wanted to share over the past six weeks!

The winter weather is truly upon us now, and I for one am here for it.

Today I kept thinks pretty simple - olive chinos, navy shirt and blazer, blue leather boots.

I know the old rhyme of ‘blue and green should never been see; without a colour in between’ makes a lot of people nervous - but honestly I think the right hues are key.

To my mind anyway, olive + navy works 💁🏻‍♂️

This trench coat is a favourite purchase from when I broke my 2020 Fashion Fast.

After a whole 12 months with no new purchases, finding this bad boy in my size and on sale was a very clear message from the Fashion Deities 💁🏻‍♂️ 🧥

I had been hunting for the perfect trench that DIDN’T make me look like a pervert, and I think that I have found it!

If you’re interested, I’m on radio this morning from 11:50am talking about military influence on fashion, and the Trench Coat will be discussed in some detail.

Happy Egg-Day, ya filthy animals!

From my chilly little devil-worshiping heart to all of you, I hope you’re having a marvellous and safe Easter Long Weekend.

Chow down on creme eggs and as much seafood as you can possibly stomach!

Buying a shirt often comes second to buying yourself a suit, and while this makes sense it can undermine the importance of a good shirt 👔

Your shirt can lift an outfit or break it completely, so here’s some things to keep in mind when shopping for shirts:

1️⃣ Never underestimate the power of a French Cuff - the drama of cuff links always adds to an outfit.

2️⃣ Invest in a high quality shirt (or three) in a solid colour. White, blue and grey are great options and they will go with almost every suit.

3️⃣ Clashing suit and shirt patterns can work, but it often just looks busy and messy. Simple really is best.

I have been looking for a blue suit for a while now, and finally I have one! 🪡 🧵

Recently my right-hand-woman and I booked side-by-side appointments with the Canberra team to get suits made.

I wanted something in a plain and relatively bright blue, as I have a lot of patterned or textured suits. I also wanted something that would fit me perfectly without copious alterations.

I am pretty happy with the final product and looking forward to wearing/styling this now that the weather is starting to cool down.

I am heading out of town for the long weekend to spend some time with my family and to really say goodbye to summer.

I always struggle with what to pack to ensure that I am prepared for all circumstances; and so I always try to plan out a capsule wardrobe.

We’re only away for three nights and so I am limiting myself to 9 items of clothing.

I feel like it balances out the three-bags that I know the boyfriend will have packed...

How do you judge what should come home with you when you’re op-shopping?

Recently I was talking to the wonderful people Radio about the likelihood of finding authentic designer items in Canberra’s op-shops.

For my experience I would say:

❌ You will not find authentic:
- Louis Vuitton
- Hermès
- Chanel
- Christian Louboutin

✅ You will find authentic:
- Tommy Hilfiger
- Hugo Boss
- Emporio Armani
- Calvin Klein

There’s a whole host of factors at play here; but these are what I have observed personally.

Happy hunting friends! 🛍

It probably isn’t much of a surprise that I am a little fastidious with cleaning my clothes, shoes and accessories.

I have been regularly cleaning my sneakers to keep them looking fresh for a while now; and when my boyfriend bought this shoe cleaner, I was desperate to try it for myself.

Alarmingly, my first reaction is that it smells INCREDIBLE!

I took to my sneaker collection with the fury of of Greek God who’s had their heart broken by a careless mortal; and generally I was pretty impressed with the results.

I think the earlier you started using a product like this on your sneakers the better; and I had some marks it just couldn’t budge. But all in all I was pretty impressed.

This is what that first hit must be like...

After 12 months of not buying any new clothes, I finally broke my ‘fashion fast’ on 02 January 2021.

I have to say, I am pretty impressed with my own restraint. I probably spent more money than I had intended to, but I only purchased items that I had been thinking about for a very long time, or felt that I needed.

The trench is something I have been searching for for literal years, the Boucle jacket is likely the closest I’ll get to a Chanel tweed, and the Mandarin collar shirt is something I’ve wanted to experiment with for a while now.

I can’t say that I don’t want to buy more clothes; but I am conscious of the fact I don’t need any more - and content for now.

Getting back into the swing of office life and a daily commute is actually a little harder than I’d thought it would be.

After six months of working from home I was so happy to be heading back to the office.

🤔🤷🏻‍♂️🤯

But now that I am in there four days a week, the appeal is starting to wear off.

Getting dressed for the office every day is like, really hard 😖

If you’re struggling to make office/corporate attire work for you, or at the very least COMFORTABLE; let’s chat about it! Let’s get a brainstrust of frustrated office workers rethinking how we dress!

Let’s plan another week of outfits! 🤗

Last week I actually had to re-do a couple of days as we moved office and I had more days working from home.

This week marks the end of me working from home and the return to my normal working arrangements. Adieu, slippers and pyjama jeans...

Given that I work in Social Media and Communication, there’s no need for me to be in a suit and tie every day. I have a lot more freedom in how I dress than my friends and colleagues in other disciplines.

We’re also headed into summer and the weather is heating up so my uniform of sweaters and chinos needs to be adjusted for something cooler and more breathable.
