From her inner-city Canberra studio Christine has become one of Australia’s leading milliners. A p Member of the Australian Millinery Association since 2001.

A professionally trained model milliner, she is invited to European hat festivals, teaches when she finds the time and has been creating original designs for the heads of our nation’s capital for almost 20 years. My entry THE LILAC FAIRY A PANTOMIME🧚‍♀️

Artist Statement
To be "enchanted" takes me back to memories of Christmas when the Pantomime came to town.
Sleeping Beauty was the performance. The Lilac Fairy (named after the colour she wore), leader of the good fairies was my favourite, casting her magical spell, so the princess would not die, but sleep for 100 years in the Enchanted Forest Castle.
To believe in fairy tales is pure magic at any age.
My entry, a contemporary light etheral crown, moulded over a Pixie hat block, using 3 layers of straw/sinamay. With handmade lilac crinoline flowers sewn around the base, representing fairy wings, smaller flowers cover the crown capturing the forest. The burst of top flowers, sparkling beads and twisted glossy braid trim drawing you up to the castle.

Made from leftover navy fur felt pieces. With a matching turkey feather, from my box of assorted feathers collected over the years.

The dimensions are small: back to front 17cm widest side to side 11cm smallest front peak 2cm widest height point 7cm
The block is a original '40s style.

🤍 Min's TEARDROP BERET

Navy straw, with navy spot and silver veiling.

Min's big beautiful smile says it all, as she celebrated her daughter's wedding day.

Min was a delight to work with. She wanted a elegant shape with a swish of veiling to give it style. And touch of silver, picking up her jewellery and trim on her dress.

It's been a lovely few months of orders for all sorts of special celebrations!

✨️ Samantha's Bridal Headpiece

Gold and silver with a touch of sparkles!

Samantha came to me with the idea of a Crown. It was to be magical, and pick up the colours in her grandmother's pendant. She was delighted with the final piece!

Custom made in Paglina braid so fine and soft. With a beautiful drape and easy to wear and style.

Machine sewn using a beret block as a guide.

Finished with an inside adjustable headband. Trimmed with a red handmade bird brooch.
