Uphill is a series that responds to a time of personal endurance that fractured my outlook of my own being, causing a ripple of inner turmoil and faltered presence. Drawn from a cherished childhood memory, the empirical paintings portray us kids pretending to be goldminers fossicking the hill for flakes of mica. The foil embellishments emulate the characteristics of the mineral, symbolising optimism and celebration of my new ascension. ✨

It was honestly one my favourite fantasy’s as a kid. On weekends dad would do the usual routine of maintaining the garden and the pool - which meant pool salts aka mermaid crystals! 💎 ✨ •

To help out we would jump in & scatter the ‘mermaid crystals’ all over the lagoon (pool) bringing sparkle to the entire kingdom 🏰 🏝 There was something so fun and magical about that memory I wanted to bring it to life.
