Today I had the opportunity to be part of the inaugural Scenic Rim Sustainable Fashion Designer Showcase, featuring collections by ten Scenic Rim fashion designers. As part of Fashion Revolution Week, we were highlighting sustainable locally made fashion.
It’s been a crazy (last minute) few weeks where I’ve seen far too many sun rises!!! So incredibly honoured to be invited to participate along side some of the most incredible and inspiring people I know.
I am so proud of my collection that I delivered. And all that I did, learnt, unpicked, threw across the room in frustration, overthought, broken sewing machine (thank you mum for saving the day with a loaner), tears, quit at least 9 times to get to today. And got all my clothes sizes right for all my models… with zero fittings!!!! Not bad for a self taught chicky who can’t read a pattern.
“Shabuk’d — Renewed, In Bloom
This collection explores renewal through reclaimed textiles, by transforming op shop finds, destashed fabrics, and worn denim into softly feminine, one-of-a-kind pieces. Guided by an intuitive design process, each garment allows the fabric’s history to shape its new form. The floral thread becomes the quiet unifier across the collection, not as decoration, but as a language of continuity: of growth, of memories, a second life… back into bloom.”
