The feet 🦶 that started it all.

We all want the best for our kids. What about their feet? When you realise mainstream footwear wrecks not only your feet; but your whole freakin’ body, biomechanics and well-being - I call that the ‘barefoot 🦶 epiphany’. And nothing ever looks quite the same.

Cold feet🥶🦶? Nah bra. Here’s why……Most heat losses from the feet occur via thermal conduction to the ground below followed by evaporative heat loss from wet, sweaty feet. Here, the sole of these provide enough thermal insulation from the ground below, and because there’s plenty of air flow around my twinkle ✨ toes - they’re completely dry (so no evaporative cooling or sweaty, stinky feet). And because I’m free to use my feet,blood is flowing and deez pawz 🐾 are happy 😃! Even if it’s winter - get ‘em out! Phil 😎✌️🦶

I found myself thinking back to antipodean days gone by as I put in the work during my interval session this morning.
-
Running barefoot 🦶 on the grass oval was one of my happy places during our time in Australia.
-
I don’t always feel like heading out at 6:00 and hammering the intervals but once I start - man it feels good.

Intervals are tough though! Be sure to want to do it, give it 💯 effort, and most importantly don’t do it too often! Adaption comes during recovery. So allow your why it needs. Phil 🦶😎✌️

I find second hand books magical 🧙♻️ …. I’m a sucker for them and love finding hints of the previous owner’s experience in them. And herein lies the magic 🪄 . A card to ‘Great Granny’ from ‘Emma’. I reckon sent late 2010 or early 2011. The book is hardback - I’m guessing bought close to its 2010 release (rather than the latter paperback release), and a sticker on the card has a 2010 copyright on it. I wonder where Emma a now. I’m guessing she was 7 years old then (by her writing) so now she’d be around 18 years old. And Great Granny - I’ll hope she enjoyed and recently donated this book and that’s how it landed in my hands. A new book is always a privilege and with this piece of someone’s life - pure joy. That’s all folks. Phil ✌️🦶😎
