Lovedlovedloved making these purses from beautiful old saddles, long past their original use. As usual, it's starting with an idea and then letting the leather and its life marks, the patina, do the talking, with some helping hands (mine) and a little discussion between saddler (past) and maker (present).

And now they're ready for a new life with two wonderful ladies - thank you for trusting in the process!

Cross-section of cow. I find this interesting contrast of the geometric against the flow of natural marks to be quite beautiful, a little piece of art perhaps.

This is a small batch of dark brown leather coasters, which I'll have ready to bring into Bohemian De’cor this weekend - they make a great present for Father's Day!

A recent repair to a watch band, I think the pictures say it all! Although, what you can't see is that I needed tweezers for this one, to get the new leather through the buckle!

I used kangaroo leather from Packer Leather, and added a tiny piece of canvas for added strength around the buckle, and then carefully hand stitched (as always) through the existing holes.

Ready to keep time for a good bit longer.

Another Ekka over and done. I just did one entry into the leatherwork section this year, and that was a back band in the Heavy Horse Harness class. I came second of two (or last, but let's look at it with the glass half full!) and achieved my usual goal of challenging myself and supporting the section.

Congratulations to all entrants, and thank you to the organisers and sponsors!
