Species: Damselflies
Location: South America, Brazil, Colombia and South East Asia
Common Name: Damselflies

Often mistaken for their more robust cousins, the dragonflies, damselflies belong to the suborder Zygoptera. They are some of the most elegant aerial predators in the insect world, acting as tiny, iridescent fighter jets of the wetlands.

Their eyes are made up of nearly 30,000 individual lenses (ommatidia). They can see in almost every direction at once, except for a tiny blind spot directly behind their head

Species: Thysania agrippina
Common name: White Witch
Location: Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica and Texas

The White Witch Moth (Thysania agrippina) is famous for having the world's largest wingspan (up to 30cm/12in) for any insect, though not the largest wing area, with creamy white wings patterned with dark bands for camouflage on tree bark. Found in Central and South American rainforests, this nocturnal moth is also called the Great Grey Witch or Ghost Moth, with a mysterious life cycle

A wonderful mom and her kids raised this gorgeous Lacewing, and after it passed, she asked me to create a special display with it in a dome for her kids to treasure!! I even got to add the chrysalis - what a meaningful project!!! 🤍

Species: Papilio Thaos
Common name: The King Swallowtail
Location: Mexico, South America, Central America

This impressive butterfly boasts a 12 to 14 cm wingspan, with slender wings that showcase brown hues on the forewings. A vibrant yellow band stretches from the tip, gradually narrowing towards the rear.
These swallowtails thrive in tropical regions, feeding on nectar from diverse flowers like Lantana throughout the year.
