After some fine tuning I'm finally comfortable to fully share my passion project - BAALA Tribewear! Firstly, to everyone who has reached out and given me feedback, advice and encouragement - you've helped me see things that I didn't know were there, so thank you!
It's been a dream of mine for many years to be able to start a clothing brand. Not simply to be able to see people wear my artworks. It was always more than that. I wanted do my part to help the next generations. Regardless of their background. I wanted to give my fellow Aboriginal people something they could identify with and wear proudly, and I wanted to invite the wider community to celebrate our culture and art with us.
I grew up seeing the pride other people from around the world had in wearing clothes they designed, reflecting their culture, and giving them a unique sense of identity. My goal was clear. I wanted break the mold of only seeing our art on tourist t-shirts or corporate polos and create something that allowed us to express who we are and celebrate where we came from, and I wanted others to celebrate with us.
I've committed the majority of my life to sharing what I have been taught through my artwork, but never felt as proud as I feel to see someone wearing our culture with pride. I want to do more. It's early days and I'm learning as I go but I hope that you will join me on my journey so I welcome all your feedback, comments and criticisms. It helps the brand grow. It helps us grow. It helps me grow.
WE'RE OUR ART. WEAR OUR ART. WALK WITH US.👣
With that said, please check out the online store and let me know what you think. Spread the word and share if you like what you see. I've started with a small selection of hi-top and low-cut sneakers, with matching hoodies, all featuring my original artwork with plans to release new products soon so stay tuned!
P.S. If anyone knows of anyone who produces music, let me know.
