ined with beautiful French and Italian laces and pure silk fabrics, ensure Susan’s gowns are sumptuously elegant for any occasion. Susan will create bridal wear that can be as traditional, classic or contemporary as you wish. Susan is happy to spend time with clients discussing their options in her conveniently and centrally located studio, in East Brisbane, (one block from the Gabba). Saturday appointments are available for “out of town” clients and by special arrangement.

Lucy approached me last year to discuss her dress options with me. She had been to my studio before when bridesmaid to one of my previous brides . She had narrowed down her overall choice of style, so then just had to choose the fabric, and the finer details were decided as the dress progressed. We poured over many options, eventually choosing a beautiful Italian jacquard. The ceremony dress was ticking along well early this year, when Lucy asked me if I would have time to make her a reception dress! This is where thankfully her two good friends and earned their weight in gold! Her initial choice of style for a reception dress was not doing her any favours (I kept telling her I hated the style of the bodice, and thankfully her friends were also politely honest). With a mere 9 days to go to the wedding she told me she had a new idea for the bodice! (Ruched silk chiffon bodice and an Italian crepe skirt). I agreed it would suit her perfectly and burned the midnight oil to make the new bodice in time! Lucy’s radiant smile says it all! Stunning bride in both dresses!

Gorgeous Emily-Rose .coughlan was one of my “out of town” brides last year (living in Emerald), and so she came to see me around a year before her wedding to discuss the details of her beautiful dress.
She chose a ballroom skirt, in Italian duchess, and a fitted bodice with front overlay and pleated collar. Stunning!

I am often asked by brides if I can re purpose their mother’s wedding dress as their own. I love the sentimentality of wearing your mothers dress and giving it a modern edge, but In many cases the fabric is in very poor shape (stains and holes), or often the original style doesn’t allow enough fabric to re-make into the style the bride wants.
So when Phoebe emailed me asking if I would be able to re purpose her mother’s dress as her dress, I think she could detect my eye roll even by email! I asked her to bring in the dress, when her mother was next in Brisbane, and oh my goodness what a gem!
Stored in its original dry cleaning box was a fabulous cream French silk duchess approximately 40 years old! Phoebe’s mum had purchased the silk from back in their “Rowes Arcade” days and thankfully the puffy leg-o-mutton sleeves had just enough fabric for a ruched overlay on the bodice! A strapless bodice with ruched overlay, and the original skirt with a few tweaks, gave Phoebe a stunning modern but classic gown for her wedding in March this year. Such a thrill to repurpose this dress for Phoebe!

My posting on socials this year has been somewhat lacking due to my very busy schedule, having already completed 8 wedding dresses and a couple of evening dresses. Here is to the first of many posts I want to share!

Gorgeous Matiah was one of my November Brides in 2025, and came to me with a number of ideas and pictures but was still wavering with the finer details (bodice length, lace details, skirt shape etc). She knew she wanted heavy silk satin, a detachable overskirt to give her wedding “drama”, and lace sleeves of course! We worked through the fittings and the gown came together to produce her stunning result!
