Crazy Baby Creations

Crazy Baby Creations Crazy Baby Creations started out as a way to unleash my underused creativity, firstly with Quilting, then with baby, toddler, infant clothing.

I’ve since added knitted items - jumpers, cardigans, beanies & bonnets. New are reusable make up wipes & towels

Father’s Day at Figtree Markets at Yeppoon.
A bit slow to start, but the crowds finally came out just after 10 ( probably after all those Breakfast feasts )
The day warmed up, and was certainly hot when we started to break down.
Home, lunch, swim, relax and waited for it to cool down before we unpacked the trailer ( my car - an old, well used workhorse finally gave up the ghost ) and put everything where they were supposed to go.
Glad I broke out the Christmas gear, as there certainly was a bit of interest.
I will not be at the Bell Park Market this month, as we will be tripping south to see family and friends. Have no fear, I’ll be back for the October Market 😊

My gorgeous husband has been looking after me, doing a lot of the hard yards - you know, putting the washing on the line 🙄, making the bed, washing what won’t fit in the dishwasher, meal preparation and cooking.
Well last week, he cooked an omelette for us - yummy - when I cook it, I always put it under the grill for a few minutes. I’m aware of the grill element on the roof of my oven. I said to my gorgeous husband (RHM ) be careful when you put it in , and pull it out, you don’t burn my pot holder…..
Well, I just used my sewing machine for the first time in 9 weeks 😱 and made two potholders to replace the one that almost went up in flames ( and I can always have a spare )
Small steps - the fabric was cut in strips so all I had to do was cut some wadding and a back facing, and, wha-la … 2 Potholders!
Go Me !!!

I still haven’t been able to return to my sewing machine…yet😞
I visit with the Dr and the OT last week, left me feeling a bit disappointed.
This is now week 3 in the splint, and the Dr and OT want me to use this for another 4 weeks.
I could possibly use my machine, but I haven’t got anything cut out to sew.
My gorgeous husband said he’d give it a try, but with everything else he’s got going, I don’t think it’s fair to lump anything else on his plate.
So far I’ve binge watched
ER
NYPD Blue
How to get away with Murder
And all Netflix / 7Plus available episodes of
NCIS - New Orleans
NCIS
NCIS LA and
Law and Order Special Victims
I’ve read about a dozen books ( with more lined up ) and I’ve even sorted out a couple of drawers, getting rid of “ stuff” I’ve not seen in 8 years.
Starting to get a bit more mobile now the Moonboot is now off, but the ankle is still a bit stiff and gets sore from walking.

I’ve got a stall site at the Figtree Markets on the 6th September, but won’t be at Bell Park on the 20th as will be on the Sunshine Coast supporting my gorgeous man trying for another Gold Medal ( and Aussie Jersey )

Now, what to do today, to fill the day ….

Lions Club Market was on today in Emu Park.
An early start with my RHM, as I still can’t drive myself 😞
Also it’s so much easier to set up if you have someone with a set of muscles 😘
It was a pleasant day in the sun, but a bit cool in the shade.
There were a few people about, but not as many as usual.
Sold a few Christmas Garments ( thought I’d better put them out, just in case, and I’m glad I did )
Home, lunch, unpack and watch the Cricket, gee I love Sunday afternoons

Finally the cast has been removed 🎉
Unfortunately a Splint is now in situ.
Stitches have finally been removed ( 7 weeks as he decided against removing them before fibreglass cast went on )
So now I can see the damage….
1st photo is after op #1
2nd photo is after op #2 which I took yesterday.
Exercises, heat packs, ice packs to reduce swelling ( just not at the same time )
Still can’t do too much, but fingers are less restricted so hopefully be able to get back into my crafts next week, after another bout with my OT and Surgeon.
Lions Markets are on at Bell Park this Sunday, and I’ll have my RHM with me to make sure I don’t overdo it.
See you Sunday !😊

6 weeks since my Thumb Joint Replacement Surgery, and still another week before I see the Surgeon. So another week in this cast and then I’ll ( almost ) be free 🎉
4 weeks since I chipped the Fibula and been wearing my shiny new 🤨Moonboot, still another 2 weeks before I can ditch it, and then I can truly be free ….
Still reading and not doing much else, thanks to my gorgeous husband for carrying the load ( promise I will cook dinner again soon ) not to mention hanging the clothes on the line 🙄
What I can’t wait to do, is some craft - knitting and sewing, talk about withdrawal symptoms 😱
Not to long now, just need to be patient a little longer……

Due to limited mobility, unfortunately, I won’t be at tomorrow’s Lions Club Market at Bell Park.
I’ve not been able to do to much over the last 4 weeks, except read a few books ( 4 so far 😜) and my gorgeous husband has been so good, carrying the load of doing everything he can, so that I can have the best post surgery ( and post broke ankle ) outcome possible, that we decided that it would be too much for me ( and him ) to attend.
Appointment for cast removal on 11th August, and next market is set for the 16th, so should be good to go then 🤞🏼

So there I was, minding my own business, enjoying being away for a few days, supporting my husband and what he loves to spend his time doing - racing his bike ( he won a Gold and 2 Silver from the 3 races he competed in ) and I twisted my ankle and took a tumble.
I thought it was a sprained ankle, but no… I had to break it 🙄 chipped a piece of bone off my fibula. All good though, no cast, but I do have a fancy new piece of footwear and a walking aid to help me get about. I also broke the distal phalanx of my right thumb ( top bone ) you know, the one that just had a new joint replacement…. The Dr was not a happy camper ( I’m not one either ) but apart from that new break, the rest of his handiwork is as it should be 😅( thank god )
So a new fibreglass cast is on, and I don’t see him for another 4 weeks, and I get to see the fracture clinic at the other hospital around the same time…
Go me …..🫣

I’ve only ever had a backslab cast once before.
It was from a motorbike accident…
I was about 12 years old, New Years Day. I
It was a trail bike. I’d never had a go one one before ( I think I’d only just got my first bicycle)
I was giving it a try in the side paddock of a neighbours home while on holidays down the South Coast.
I came off, greenstick fracture of my thumb ( maybe that’s were all this trouble started )
I was in the cast for 6 weeks.
So I’m day 11 post op with this one, I have 6 days to go before I get my stitches out, and then another cast for 4 weeks.
My hand is starting to smell a bit “ funky”
I really can’t remember how I fared when I was 12, but when you’re ( almost ) 65, it certainly feels so much harder….
Now to try and find a way to keep the
“funky “ smell at bay until next Thursday….

So here I am, 4 days post-op and bored brainless.
The surgery went better than expected ( thank god ) but I’ve got this plaster cast on, so as not to move anything else within.
It is heavy, cumbersome and very rigid.
Dr split the cast yesterday for a wound check - looks good - then rewrapped the cast together.
So, left handed for another 6 weeks, and that hand / arm is getting a work out, so is a bit sore from overuse.
Pain relief is used when required, certainly not trying to rely on it.
Reading is my past time for the next 6 weeks, luckily I have a few books lined up.
Wish me luck - I think I’ll need it.
Also, so much praise to my wonderful husband for holding everything together for me ( me included ) 😘
