Hot August Jazz is taking over North Hobart this Sunday, so naturally we’re joining in. Our North Hobart store will be open especially from 11am–3pm, giving you ample opportunity for a little live music, a wander and perhaps some footwear with a bit of personality.

Ah, Father’s Day. That annual occasion where Dad insists he wants absolutely nothing and then looks mildly wounded when everyone believes him.

How terribly helpful.

We suggest ignoring the man entirely. A proper leather wallet, belt, bag or something equally handsome tends to go down rather well. And yes, we have socks too, should tradition simply be too powerful to resist.

Winter is apparently on its way out.

Tasmania, naturally, has yet to confirm this.

Still, the seasons must move along, which means a rather lovely selection of our winter shoes & boots is now on sale.

They’re the same pairs we chose because we liked the leather, the construction and the idea that you might wear them for many winters to come.

Because a good pair of shoes shouldn’t be a one-season affair.

They just happen to have a smaller price tag now.

And frankly, we suspect there’s plenty of boot weather left yet.

The best bits of the buying fair? Not entirely the buying.

It’s getting our Lake Leather people together. A few days away from our respective corners of Tasmania, catching up, comparing notes, trying on far too many shoes and having rather strong opinions about handbags.

There’s plenty of looking, choosing and thinking about what might earn a place in our stores next season. But there’s also plenty of laughing.

We’re rather lucky with this little Lake Leather community of ours. 🤎

Meanwhile, shopping up a storm …

We’re currently choosing what’s coming to Lake Leather next season, and the boss is talking us through one of Django & Juliette’s rather clever heel designs.

Apparently there’s quite a bit of engineering involved in a good heel.

Who knew shoe buying could get so technical? 👠
