GAIA - part 2 - for Mother Nature

This is a special Mother's Day release, dedicated to Mother Nature.

We are but a speck of dust, but our roots travel down deep.
Our life on this earth is a tiny moment in time, however we live on as our cells and souls are returned to the earth and given new life.

Mother Earth is the soul of our planet. She is the seasons, the climate, the oceans 🌊 , the forests 🌳, the deserts 🌵 the infinite sky 🌌.
We are custodians of the earth. We must tread lightly and respect that we are a tiny insignificant part of this universal ecological ecosystem.
We are at a tipping point on this great planet - it is time to step up and choose Mother Nature over money. It's time to join together to make a change.

GAIA - part 1 - for mothers

This special Mother's Day release is a tribute to mothers, but especially my beautiful mum!

It is not until you embark on your own journey of motherhood that you really understand the magic of being a mum. The miracle that it is to bring a new life into the world. To raise a child completely dependent on you. To teach and learn at the same time.
To cry with tears of joy.
To feel love ❤️ like nothing you have ever felt before when seeing yourself in a being that is a part of you - that will always be a part of you!

I cannot describe the gratitude and respect I have for my mum! I love her so, she's amazing! And when I hear her voice within me when I read and speak to my kids I feel joy - and know she is with me always xo

We are getting ready for a very special Mother's Day edition of our eco-printed silk scarves called 'Gaia'.

This release pays respect to all Mothers of the world 🌎 all women of the earth.

There is great wisdom and beauty within the feminine realm. May we take time to listen - to hold space - to nurture - to love.

On this Mother's Day show gratitude towards the mothers in your life. Plant a seed for Mother Earth, and with it a wish of hope and love for the world.

This is the season of the first winter with crisp mornings and cool evenings. This scarf reminds me of a misty morning as the sun rises and lights up the wonderful big lemon scented gum with an amber glow that watches over our home and garden.
It features a beautiful array of colours from striking greens and reds to hues of orange and yellow.

Djeran in May Release
- AUTUMN WINDFALL -

There is a magical djeran/autumn energy in our neighbourhood. I love the afternoon glow from the west as the sun drops into the ocean. The golden rays stream through the trees and the leaves of the local eucalyptus trees, alighting the red and pink blossoms like little lights. The leaves underfoot are abundant and diverse. My Mum's favourite season is Melbourne's autumn. I think some of that has rubbed off on me somehow ❤️🍁

Djeran in April release

This print was made in the lead up to the Easter Full Moon. As a family we watched each night as the waxing moon become bigger and brighter, waiting patiently for the moon hare to visit our garden with treasures and gifts.

Djeran in April - this first release of eco printed silk scarves I would like to dedicate to the traditional owners of this land.
The whadjuk noongar people on who's land I reside have nurtured and cared for this land for thousands of generations. Their connection to country is something I can only dream about, and I hope to lead my life as a custodian of land in my own way with respect to these traditional owners.
My sense of place is what I liken to this connection, and a big part of that for me is the flora of this great country. The smell of a eucalyptus can bring me 'home' instantly. I have carried eucalypt leaves in purses and pockets when my land and country has been beyond reach across oceans and seas.

These three scarves are an expression of love for land and flora, and love of art.

Each species gives a different colour and print. Discovering what colour is half the fun ❤️ 🍃

I'm in love with eucalyptus printing!! The aroma of the leaves as they release their oils and tannins, the excitement of unwrapping a scarf or silk garment to discover what artwork has been created, and the joy of sending a piece of it home to new and old friends!
