For the history and design buffs in our Wren community, this post is for you. Our store was once home to the Chan Kong Chinese Restaurant, which was well renowned with locals and visitors for many years (we used to go there for birthdays or whenever dad’s horse won at the track 🤩 🏇!).

When we purchased the building nearly 5 years ago, it had been vacant for some time, but what remained within its walls was a treasure trove of original features that formed the framework for our overall design concept.

We have three of these magnificent coloured glass panels which formed part of a wall that originally divided the takeaway part of the restaurant to the main dining area. Once extracted from the wall, we created these moveable double-sided accessory display spaces.

The original curved counter was relocated and restored, with a talented local craftsman cutting and turning individual pieces of timber to create the corrugated exterior. To further brighten things up, we painted the original brown brick walls and straw ceiling white.

These are just a few of the original items we restored to create our little mid century oasis in Sheridan St Gundagai, which is now full of fabulous clothing and accessories. Next time you’re in town, stop by and experience the store for yourself 🧡 🩵 💜

There’s still time to get your NYE outfit sorted!! We’re open until 5pm today. This spotty number is actually a two piece so can be worn together or mixed and matched depending on the occasion. It’s also super stretchy and doesn’t require ironing…double bonus!
