Saying goodbye to plastic in my closet, one garment at a time! 🌿✨
Did you know that synthetic fabrics like polyester are essentially plastic? They trap heat, hold onto odours, and can shed microplastics. That’s why I’m all about choosing beautiful, breathable, and biodegradable natural fibres.
🌱 Why you’ll love the switch:
🤍 Your skin breathes: Natural fabrics like linen, cotton, and h**p let the air circulate, keeping you comfortable all day.
🤍 Gentle & hypoallergenic: Less irritation, making them perfect for sensitive skin.
🤍 Better for the planet: They return gently to the earth without leaving harmful microplastics in our waterways.

The Australian-made clothing industry is essential for ethical production and sustainability. By focusing on local supply chains and transparency, we can effectively combat textile waste and support fair wages.

Key benefits of choosing Australian-made include:
  - Ethical Manufacturing: Local brands adhere to strict Australian labor laws, ensuring guaranteed minimum wages and safe working conditions.
  - Reduced Carbon Footprint: Domestic production significantly lowers environmental impact by reducing the need for international freight.
  - High Quality: Smaller production runs allow for more rigorous quality control, resulting in increased garment durability.

The Organic T-shirt has been a licensed Australian-made brand since 2011.

Is Cotton Stretchy?
While cotton lacks the high elasticity of spandex, its fibres offer a subtle, natural stretch. This allows cotton clothing to mould to your body over time, providing a personalised and comfortable fit. 100% organic cotton, they achieve a “mechanical stretch” of 10% to 30% due to the fabric’s knit structure, rather than through synthetic elastic fibres.

Does Cotton Stretch Over Time?
Yes, cotton fibres can stretch as they absorb moisture and react to your movements. Although durable, these fibres eventually undergo a natural “give”. This makes cotton an ideal choice for breathable, comfortable clothing that moves with you throughout the day.

The Australian clothing industry generates a significant volume of pre-consumer fabric and offcut waste. In response, the domestic manufacturing sector is increasingly adopting circular practices by upcycling production scraps, while specialised facilities process unwearable offcuts into new materials and commercial goods. At The Organic T-Shirt, we manage waste by proactively upcycling in-house to ensure offcuts do not reach landfills. Our garment design process limits waste to under 1%, and any residual materials are repurposed into accessories, such as our shipping bags. Furthermore, as our fabrics are biodegradable, we provide them free of charge to the gardening community in Guyra.
