the word ‘renda’ in bahasa means (n) lace, or ‘merenda’ means (v) to lace something. however, it is actually a borrowed word from a portuguese word with the same meaning, but has a different pronunciation.

indonesia 🇮🇩 was once colonised by the portuguese back in the early 1500s. then the spaniards came, and of course, the british, the dutch, and lastly the japanese. we then gained our independence from the dutch in 1945 at the end of the ww2. and that’s exactly why we have such a vibrant culture and language.

there you go, just a bit of history of the culture and the country where i was born and bred 😊 i now call australia home 🏡 but i will always love and will never forget my roots 😍

so for every purchase of renda’s earrings, i will personally pick and write you an indonesian word for you to learn ☺️
