I have returned and busy making a suit.

At this stage the jacket shell has been drafted, toiled and cut. The front panels have been sewn to the side and the outer pockets created.

What you’re looking at is the hand stitching on a pocket in silk thread (Bartack on the end, back stitch along the welt and prick stitch around the edge of the flap)

The next step is preparing the full canvas to support the front panels.

Winter in the studio leads to a competitive level of sleeve layering.

Newest creation is 100% silk shirt with gathered cuffs and shell buttons, not visible is gathering at the front shoulders and centre back. Out of character for me is the very minimal top stitching in a bid to make this piece seem as effortless as possible.

Mum and I could rarely be accused of looking smug… yet here we are?!
Jane is wearing an empire waist, A-line gown in Navy satin which features a deep pleat and hidden silk tulle ‘tail’ at the back - the rewards of putting me through fashion school, we’ll call it even now 😘
