🎣 Jake’s favourite catch… and what a way to christen the new gear!

Our first shipment of Reel & Roam fishing jerseys arrived — the Puzzle ones — so naturally, we had to put them to the test. We headed down to the local jetty for a quick flick.

Usually, we don’t catch anything too special from the jetty, but we thought we’d give it a crack anyway. After about 30 minutes of casting at every possible spot, we were just about ready to call it a day.

Jake decided on one last cast… and hooked into something BIG. 😳

Fishing light gear, he immediately thought he was onto a big grouper. After a solid 10 minutes of battling it, weaving in and out of the pylons, he finally managed to tire it out and work it over to the stairs so we could hopefully land it.

Only problem… we had no landing net. 😂
Because who actually expects to catch something decent at the jetty? Apparently, this is becoming a common occurrence for us. 😅

After a bit of teamwork, we successfully landed the chopper and there was BIG excitement!

Jake’s first decent-sized chopper, caught on a little soft plastic and light gear. 78cm of absolute fun! 🎣🔥

Safe to say, the new Reel & Roam gear got a pretty good first outing. 😉🤙

Sarah’s favourite fish… although I’m not really sure I can claim this one as mine 😂🎣

The boys continuously took over the Mack rig, and I’d never caught a ‘big’ Mack before. After watching them mess up numerous attempts, I finally had enough and said, “It’s my turn.” 😂

Next minute… I’m hooked into a good one.

I fought it for about 10 minutes with a half-broken rod before completely exhausting myself and handing it over to Liam to finish off another 10 minutes later. 😂

And yes… it’s all on footage.

Between the three of us, we somehow managed to get it boatside. Except we had no gaff and no easy way of getting it in.

So naturally, the young and dumb option was to try and scoop it with the net. 🤦‍♀️

Obviously… straight through the net.

Jake then had to grab it and flip it into the boat with his bare hands. Somehow, we actually did it. 😂🎣

After all that, we decided to call it a day… mainly because we didn’t even bring an esky big enough for it. 😅

Definitely one of those catches I’ll never forget.

So yeah… I’m claiming this one. 😉🎣

We want to get back to the roots of why we started Reel & Roam — because we love fishing, being outdoors and sharing the stories that come with it. 🌊

We’ve been a little quiet around here lately… 👀
Life has been busy, but we’ve definitely missed Reel & Roam.
So we’re getting back to what we love, all things fishing, camping, exploring, creating and sharing a little more of the adventures along the way.

Consider this our little comeback. 🎣🌴
