Brilliant post by E.V.A.. Yes the only way of stopping these lying deceiving cruel bastards within Parks NSW and the ALP from continuing this illegitimate cruelty is for the RSPCA to actually do its job to PROTECT Brumbies against this Aerial Cull they they know cannot be conducted humanely. Don't be conned by the RSPCA, ring or email them and tell them in NSW to act on their own guidelines and available laws of what is and isn't CRUEL. They have enabled and colluded with the Gov't for WAY too long, and for one of them to be in the Helicopter and see the carnage that most of these 270 Brumby Mares (lactating and pregnant) Stallions and baby Foals suffered after being shot in the back and legs as they fled and then pumped full of bullets is a shameful disgrace upon Atticus Fleming at Parks NSW, Penny Sharpe and Chris Minns of the NSW ALP and of course now THE RSPCA as well !
In 2002, the RSPCA took Parks NSW to court on counts of animal cruelty after an aerial cull of brumbies in Guy Fawkes National Park resulted in horrific injuries and huge public outcry. As a result, aerial culling was banned in NSW.
In 2023, the RSPCA, GO AGAINST their OWN Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for animal welfare, as stated in the PetSmart guidelines for aerial culling HOR002.
YES! The RSPCA, the only organisation in Australia with the power to prevent cruelty to animals have decided that Parks & Wildlife Services NSW are to be allowed to REWRITE the guidelines that were originally provided to prevent suffering to horses during a cull in order to avoid once again being taken to court for not following the requirements.
THIS MEANS!
..that NSWPWS can target horses that are pregnant or have foals at foot resulting in babies being lost and left to die alone of starvation or dog attack.
..that horses can be culled in difficult terrain, making it impossible to check if all horses have been killed.
..that an instant kill is no longer required, a shot to the thorax is acceptable, leaving a horse to drown in agony in its own blood.
..that if the SOP's for a humane cull cannot be followed, instead of just finding a non lethal solution, it's O.K to just change the rules.
The RSPCA say all of that is ok.
THAT IS FRIGHTENING AND CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN.
Please email Steve Coleman CEO RSPCA [email protected] to express your disgust at this outrageous decision by RSPCA and NSWPWS.
Please share to any person, group or page that may not know what is really happening to our wild horses. Thank you 🙏
