2022 brings with it a studio space. Finally. Filled with natural light it feels creative and warm. I am incredibly blessed to have it. Pictured and helping me to unpack is Woody. I’m not sure that you’ve met 🖤 Wishing you a safe, happy and kinder 2022 ✨🥂❤️

With so many people baking their way through isolation. Myself included. Requests for custom pins have increased. Pictured are two that came from a incredibly dense, single length of salvaged Black Oak. A very slow growing tree. I can’t imagine I’ll ever find another piece again, that will produce two, such perfect 900 mm long pins. The one pictured on my lathe will be going to a baker in Sydney. He wanted something special. The second, pictured in the kitchen I built for us, will go into my own collection. Because I simply can’t part with something so beautiful 🖤

There was no room for both a stud wall and a wall unit, so I built this wall unit to act as both. It’s essentially a room divider. It’s backed with white painted lining boards, that became the wall of the butlers pantry and mud room that it hides.

I’m drawing templates for a bathroom vanity. Inspiration comes from a photo. A memoir from that time in Paris. Our house is almost finished, but for the bathrooms. This next job is for us 🌹

I have no business asking a piece of timber this dense, with this much figure and at this length to allow me to turn it into a flawless pasta pin! But if it works it will be extraordinary... 🤠
So far so good! I’ll soak it over night in a food grade oil. This will lift the grain. Then I’ll put it back on the lathe and settle it into its flawless finish, ready for its new owner 🖤

It’s freezing and my fingers are numb. I haven’t warmed up yet. I should be moving faster, but I’m enjoying my work and distracted, as sleet begins to fall outside. Today we are expecting snow ❤️

The timber is special, both in species and in its history. It’s from an old Himalayan Cedar tree, that once grew beside the most beautiful Blue Stone Church ❤️ More about the build in my story’s.
I’m proud to have helped to preserve such a tiny little part, but I want to keep them all! What do you think, too many?

A resent commission poses for a brief photo in my home 🖤
I’m a little bit smitten, so working on another one that is quite similar. It is made from Oak with traditional pinned mortise and tenon joinery. I’m thinking of a dark stain, maybe a painted finish?
