Lyon-Fir Designs OOAK Handmade toys, jewellery and handwoven articles. I love upcycling and try to do that as much as I also make jewellery, mainly earrings.

I am a Stay at home Mummy of two little devils (I mean GORGEOUS ANGELS) trying to find some sanity in the turbulent world of motherhood. I have always dabbled in painting, photography, ceramics, print-making - you name it, I've probably tried it when it comes to arts and crafts, so it seemed to be the logical place to go. In this throw-away society there is so much wasted and as I am a hoarder by

nature it makes sense to upcycle or remodel items and materials that may still have life left in them, but not in their original form. I have been making toys for my children and my friends' children for about 5 years now, but there are only so many ragdolls, teddies and outfits one's children need. Most of the ones I have made recently have been sold to raise money for my local MOPS (Mums of Preschoolers) group. They get 50% of the takings. I have become a bit of a Pinterest addict and am constantly scouring it for ideas of what to make next with what is at hand.

Chooks can be funny critters. Our smallest girl (top right), who I have affectionately called Little Red Hen, gets into the scraps pile quickly, grabs the biggest, tastiest bit she can find and takes it as far from the other girls as possible so she can enjoy it in peace. I will often find her behind the chook shed and if I find a tomato that's been attacked buy bugs or has blossom rot, she gets to have it all to herself because all the other girls are at the pen gate.

Wow, it's been a while. So much has happened since my last post, here's the abridged version. 2019 saw us selling our beautiful property in Tasmania and moving back to WA. Perth and Peel regions are in a shortlockdown due to Covid-19 which has meant the kids got an extra week of holidays. Next week they go back to school and Master Lyon-Fir has to wear a mask every day for at least the 1st week. Mr Lyon-Fir has been wearing those horrible disposable ones all week at work, so need to make him a couple too. While I am at it I'm making some for me and the girls Kit'n'Kat and Unicorn 🖤💀💜😺💚🐘
